Real Astronauts!

Update!

Colonel Chris Hadfield and Major Jeremy Hansen, two of Canada's real life astronauts, have given the thumbs up for Star Acers! We are thrilled to have their names and likeness incorporated into our comic.

Colonel Hadfield was the first Canadian to do an EVA space walk. It was to install the Canadarm2 on the International Space Station (ISS). Additionally NASA has announced that Colonel Hadfield will become the first Canadian commander of  the ISS in December 2012!  An honour for Colonel Hadfield and Canada as well.

Major Jeremy Hansen was one of two Canadians finalists during the 2009 astronaut recruitment campaign.   Major Hansen is training for his first mission right now!

Here is a rough positioning of the educators, schools and districts we are collecting data from and will be beta testing Star Acers with this coming fall! It's an incredible thing to see so many Canadians, across the entire country, who are lending a hand in the creation of Star Acers.

Awesome new Page rendered!

Update!

I feel it's important to update the blog with our progress because the progress is hard won.  Each page of the comic has it's own lengthy life. It goes from a thumbnail sketch to a roughed out page to this rendered page, and from there it will be colored and polished. Of course before all that is the concept and the script! This page was relatively easy to rough out but has developed into something more than the meeting of the main characters, it is now a cool fact baring exchange of information and wit!

Also we have added a new member to the Star Acers team. Yukon King the space dog! Perhaps some of his genes are those of Laika the first dog in space. Laika was sent up in the Russian- Sputnik 2 in 1957. It was the second ever space ship to orbit the earth.  It`s only fitting that the latest, greatest member of our space team should be a dog...

New Page Fully Rendered!

Update!

Here we begin to dive into the heart of the Alpha comic book, our young heroes emerging as individuals with hopes and dreams... and even doubts.
Most astronaut candidates are also pilots, so each of our characters flies a distinct Canadian aircraft. Amelia flies a Diamond Twin Star, a modern and wonderfully refined design. Ethan flies a DeHavilland Beaver bush plane which plays a large roll in providing access to the north and wilderness of Canada.  Logan flies an F35 in the Canadian Air Force, a very diverse and powerful jet with short distance takeoff and vertical takeoff.

New Colored Page!

Thought i'd post this most recently completed page!
